Sprit Path is the name for an Acupuncture point on the Heart Meridian. This point represents the path or the way of the spirit. All too often, we become consumed in the day to day hamster wheel of modern life- preoccupied with perceived expectations, and transient fulfillment in the way of money, titles and influence. We can easily become distressed and wrapped up about things that are superficial and impermanent and get lost/ knocked off our path. This point reveals the way back to our path, a path that allows us to feel both inspired and truly fulfilled on a deep level.
In the beginning of the pandemic when I had to shut my acupuncture practice down for a few months, I had some unexpected spare time on my hands. And that time gave me some space for my creativity to blossom after a long stint of dormancy. What transpired was an idea to make Chinese Medicine-themed art out of foraged wildflowers, plants and acupuncture needles. During a time that was (and still is) scary and unpredictable, this artistic endeavor became both an outlet to cope and a type of meditation for me.
Making this art parallels what the acupuncture point “Spirit Path” provides. While in practice for the last 8 years, I got too consumed in my business and overworked in my practice, that I lost my way and a piece of myself. Creating these images bound together all the parts of me that I value and treasure: Chinese Medicine, meditation, healing, nature, plants, flowers and creativity. Initially, I made these images for myself and to share with my patients. But based on the overwhelming amount of positive feedback and encouragement, I’ve decided perhaps it’s best that they be shared and able to be accessed by all.
It's my hope one or many of these images and their symbology resonate with you. Thanks for the many people along the way who have encouraged me to put myself and my art out there in the world.
